 College Intern Recognized as one of Northwestern Mutual's Top 100 Interns in the Nation 
 
Northwestern Mutual is recognizing Grand Valley State University Sophomore student, Caleb Pols, as one of the company's top interns in the company's entire network of financial representative interns based on production. 
 
Pols ranked 90th among the more than 2,000 interns across the country and is being recognized as an outstanding performer by building a strong practice through delivering consistent quality service to clients.
 
Northwestern Mutual Leads Best Places to Work Survey

Nov. 09, 2011 - Northwestern Mutual ranks first in its industry and 16th overall among service companies in Selling Power Magazine’s annual “50 Best Companies to Sell For” list, according to the November 2011 issue.

This marks the ninth consecutive year that Northwestern Mutual has been named to the list by Selling Power magazine.

In 2011, Northwestern Mutual will add 2,000 financial representatives and 2,500 financial representative interns as it seeks to keep pace with increasing consumer demand for financial security.

“This survey confirms what we’ve known all along: Northwestern Mutual is a great place to launch and grow a career,” said Todd M. Schoon, CLU, ChFC, JD, executive vice president – agencies. “Helping people achieve financial security through careful planning is one of the most rewarding career paths a person can choose, especially today when so many are looking for guidance.

Western Michigan Group Financial Representative, Receives Marvin E. Muilenberg, CLU, Distinguished Service Award

Western Michigan Group Financial Representative, Francis Gingras, was recently awarded the Marvin E. Muilenberg Distinguished Service Award. This award is the highest honor given by the Michigan NAIFA organization. Presented annually by NAIFA Michigan at its Annual State Conference, the Marvin E. Muilenberg Distinguished Service Award recipient is selected on the basis of service to, and accomplishments in, the life insurance and financial services industry, the agency system and the community.

Gingras is a Financial Representative at our Traverse City District Office.

2011 Recruiting Goal Announced

The Western Michigan Group, Grand Rapids Network Office aims to add 18 financial representatives and 15 financial representative college interns in 2011.  The effort is part of the nationwide effort by Northwestern Mutual to recruit more than 2,000 financial representatives and more than 2,500 financial representative college interns in 2011.

More Americans are taking action to address their financial needs today, with nearly 70% claiming that "Getting my financial house in order is a priority for me in 2011," according to a December 2010 Harris Interactive survey commissioned by Northwestern Mutual.  As a result, Northwestern Mutual is taking active steps to grow its field force to keep pace with the growing demand for financial security guidance, products and services.  The Western Michigan Group is adding new qualified financial representatives and interns at a fast pace.

17 Financial Representatives Qualify for National Quality Award

The Western Michigan Group, Grand Rapids Network Office, is pleased to announce that 17 of their Financial Representatives have qualified for the National Quality Award from the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA) - Grand Rapids Association.  This award recognizes Financial Representatives whose persistency records (or retention of in-force business) indicate competence and dedication to the insurance industry and their clients. Smith to hold Secretary position for NAIFA's Executive Committee

The Western Michigan Group would like to congratulate Rob Smith, JD, CLU, ChFC on being elected to the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA) Executive Committee.  Rob was voted, in a tight race, to the position of Secretary.

 

He has been a member of the Grand Rapids Associaiton of NAIFA for 27 years and has been instrumental in building relationships, providing leadership and representing the insurance and financial advisory business on a continual basis for the past 2 decades.

in the profession of providing financial security to the public and to serve our members
through leadership, advocacy, and support of the local associations.

The Western Michigan Group holds "Down by the River" ArtPrize Meet and Greet

One year after it's inception, ArtPrize took up residence in downtown Grand Rapids. This year,  The Western Michigan Group decided to take part in the 18-day event.  As a venue for ArtPrize, we had the priveledge of hosting an artist, Joe Krajkiewcz, as well as his art for people to vote on.  On October 2nd, The Western Michigan Group hosted a reception for the artist to meet the public and also show off some of his other work. Thank you to all who joined us and supported ArtPrize 2010. We look forward to what ArtPrize will bring to Grand Rapids next year!

Senior Financial Representative recognized for lifelong hobby

Marking the 100th anniversary of the recreational vehicle, (R.V.) the New York Times featured our own Sr. Financial Representative, Ken Faber.  An R.V. enthusiast, Ken has a collection of rare, sometimes one-of-a-kind trailers that he has restored over the years.  In some cases Ken has had to buy vintage cars to be able to hitch up his trailers for camping excursions.  Find more about Ken and his impressive hobby through this link: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/09/05/automobiles/05RV.html?_r=1&scp=2&sq=Ken%20Faber&st=cse

Network Office Trick-or-Treat

Thursday October 28, the Western Michigan Groups Network Office in Grand Rapids hosted, the 1st Annual Office Trick-or-Treat.  Financial Representatives, office staff and assistants were encouraged to dress up and to invite their families to come to the office and trick-or-treat through the halls. We are hosting an Artist Meet and Greet:An Afternoon with Abe

 

When:  Saturday, September 24, 2011 at 3-5pm

Where:  Parking lot in front of our building

 

Event Highlights:

  • You’ll get an opportunity to meet the artist, James Maher.  He’ll be available to discuss his bronze sculpture titled, “Abraham Lincoln.”
  • Shake hands with Abraham Lincoln!  Abe Lincoln will be roaming around the event, so stop by and get your picture taken with him (we’ll even send the picture to you!)
  • Kids will enjoy a coloring station where they’ll be able to put their artistic skills to use and learn a thing or two about Abe Lincoln in the process!
  • Many of Abe Lincoln’s favorite foods will be served as well.

This is a family-friendly event that is open to the public. So invite your friends!
